Blended Learning Alberta Online Course Overview

GOVERNMENT APPROVED BLENDED LEARNING STANDARD FIRST AID COURSE

HOW THE BLENDED LEARNING FIRST AID COURSE WORKS

Blended learning is a comprehensive training method that combines online theory with in-class, hands-on instruction. To receive Standard First Aid certification through blended learning, the following four steps must be completed.

ONLINE

STEP 1: Complete online theory

Students are registered for the course and begin working through the online modules. Each module consists of instructional videos, with corresponding printable resources, and concludes with a quiz about the information presented. Students complete the online theory at their own pace with the ability to start, stop, and replay video segments within any module. A passing mark of 80% must be achieved in order to proceed to each successive module.

STEP 2: Print Proof of Completion

Once all online modules have been successfully completed, students print their Proof of Completion certificate which must be presented to the in-class training instructor in order to participate in the practical session.

IN-CLASS

STEP 3: Attend in-class training

Students attend the in-class portion of the Standard First Aid training. The instructor covers practical application of the course content while reviewing key points from the online theory to reinforce learning. During this portion, students will be asked to complete two multi-injury scenarios.

STEP 4: Write exam

During the in-class session, each student writes the government approved Standard First Aid test. If both the in-class practical skills assessment and the written test are completed successfully, the student will receive full first aid certification.
